Welcome to this new episode where we talk about (LEADER SHIFT) book written by John C. Maxwell. The book objective is to help leaders to adapt, grow and make intentional changes in their leadership approach to remain effective in constantly changing world.
The third shift required from the leader is the (Cost Shift - From Privileges to the Price). The important points under this subject are the following:
- When a true leader speaks, people listen.
- Leaders who focus on privileges end up abusing their leadership; because they value privileges more than people, they are constantly exposed to temptation.
- All precious things in life require us to pay a price. The best things in life are not free.
- Poor choices - not a lack of talent or ability - are the greatest obstacles to most people's success.
- There is no success without sacrifice. If you succeed without sacrifice, it is because someone suffered before you; if you sacrifice without succeeding, it is because someone will succeed after you.
- Times of turmoil are dangerous, but the greatest danger is the temptation to deny reality.
- We must strive to remain steadfast during the difficult part of any journey upon which we lead others.
- No matter what you wish to achieve in life, you must face reality and be prepared to pay the price required to ascend the hill.
- When times are tough and challenges are formidable, being the first is not a privilege; it is a cost that must be paid.
- It is the actions of leaders that inspire others to follow and rally around the vision.
