Episode 22 (Grow and Lead)

Leadership is one of the most important topics for organizations and countries who want to be successful. The book written by John C. Maxwell titled (Developing The Leader Within You 2.0) helps whoever want to learn leadership or enhance their skills.

I will talk in this episode about the seventh section of this book which is titled with (The Indispensable Quality of Leadership: Vision). Whoever reads about leadership must come across the importance of vision for any leader. In fact, without having a clear vision, we can't say to a person that he or she is a leader.

Why vision is important for the leader? The author answers that with the following points:

1) What you can see defines what you can be.

2) You can only see things which you are ready to see them.

3) You will get what you see.

After that, the author provides the ways to make the leader's vision wider and faster than others such as:

1) Develop ways to search for wider and faster vision.

2) Spend time with people who inspire you to have wider and faster vision.

3) Ask questions that help you to make your vision wider and faster.

4) You should grow on daily basis to increase your capability to have wider and faster vision.

After that, one of the most steps come into picture that is: transferring this vision to others and convince them to follow it. This will make sure that the vision will be achieved or at least seek to achieve it.

Having an effective and clear vision is essential for any leader and history proves that one of the common things among successful leaders is having a vision.

If you want to know what leadership is or know what leadership essential skills and concepts are, I advise you to read John C. Maxwell book (Developing the Leader With You 2.0). It is very useful book, written in very good way and full of information.

In this episode, I will talk about the sixth section of the book which is (The Heart of Leadership: Serving People). In all of his books about leadership, the author mention this point as an essential role for any leader if not the main one. It is very important role for leaders in order for them to be effective and success.

The author states some important questions that supports serving people in better way such as:

1) What can I do for people to support them to success?

2) What do people need from me on daily basis?

3) What should I work on to make myself serve people in better way?

4) How would I know that I serve people in good way?

5) How are the people who are working with me?

6) What is the best thing I can do so that I can offer the best service to others?

7) How can I serve other so that they are inspired to serve others?

Answering the above questions will help a lot in providing the best service to others. Serving others is not an easy task since it needs lot of efforts and continuous improvement. Still, the result of serving others is great and it is one of the greatest source for happiness.
