Episode 26 (Grow and Lead)

I read more than 15 books for John C. Maxwell. I like the way that he is writing his books. He shares his experience with many examples from his life and what he knows. Whoever read his books will surely gain lot of knowledge and benefits.

Starting from this episode, I'm going to talk about a nice book called (SOMETIMES YOU WIN...SOMETIMES YOU LEARN). The title itself is attractable and the content of the book is very interesting and useful.

If you notice the cover of the book, you will see that the word (LEARN) is coming on the top of (LOSE). This is in fact the main message of the book: Life's Greatest Lessons are Gained from our Losses.

Losses are part of life especially for leaders and successful people, so the book aims to change our view and mindset towards these losses through learning how to gain lessons from them instead of disappointments and negative impacts.

The book provides a clear guideline for this learning through 11 elements which are necessary for success in life in the first place and more important to ensure having learning mindset.

The book is full of useful concepts, stories, quotes and author's personal experiences. I guarantee that whoever read the book and applies the 11 elements that he or she will have a great chance to be among successful people.

In each episode, I will try to cover one or two elements stating the the main concepts for them according to what the author talked about under each element.

I want to remind all that these episodes are only a general overview of the book and it won't replace reading the whole book. Reading the whole book is what will provide the real benefits.

Episode 25 (Grow and Lead)

Learning leadership is so important since it is one of the most important factors for success or failure in organizations or countries. One of the main sources for knowledge in this field is reading books and I personally consider John Maxwell leadership books very useful. One of these books is (Developing the Leader Within You 2.0).

This is the last episode for this book which is about the section titled with (The Foundation of Leadership: Character). Leader's character or personality has a lot of effect on the leader himself and other.

The author states that although having good character won't ensure success in life or leadership, a weak character will affect the leader a lot on personal and career levels.

There are three main reasons for having good character as the author states:

- Good character will build strong trust.

- Successful leaders embrace the character four dimensions: Originality, Self-management, Humility and Braveness.

- Character will make your inside better than outside.

How do you develop your character? The author suggests three main things to achieve that:

- Embrace good values.

- Practice self-leadership.

- Appreciating others.

Having a good character is essential for leaders since it has lot of benefits and in order to achieve that, the leader needs lot of efforts, practice and knowledge.

I encourage leaders or whoever wants to learn leadership to read this book several times since it contains lot of benefits. These summaries will provide guidelines and open one's mind towards some leadership concepts, but the real benefit will come reading the whole book.
