Episode 40 (Grow and Lead)

What are the main factors for success or failure in organizations? If we asked people this question, we will surely get many answers; however, I believe that leadership will at top of these factors. This is exactly what John C. Maxwell states in his books.

I chose this time to write about one of the most useful books in leadership field written by John C. Maxell, that is: THE 21 IRREFUTABLE LAWS OF LEADERSHIP

The beauty of this book is that it explains the leadership basics and concepts through different laws. These laws came out through Mr. Maxwell's long experience in leadership field in addition to his huge knowledge in this fields which is shown through many personal and general stories, quotes, concepts and explanations.

In the introduction, the author states two important concepts:

- Leadership requires the ability to perform more than one thing effectively.

- No one is able to apply all the 21 laws effectively; however, the more laws applied, the more effective the leader will be.

I believe that every leader or who ever seeks to be a leader should read this book since it will provide many important concepts for them.

The laws is like a checklist that any person can evaluate himself. Whatever strength points can be maintained and whatever weaknesses can be improved.

From next episode, I will start taking about laws where I will mention in each episode one law.

Episode 39 (Grow and Lead)

This the last episode for the book (SOMETIMES YOU WIN...SOMETIMES YOU LEARN) which is written by John C. Maxwell. This book is very useful for those who seek success in life since it touches an important subject; that is learning from losses.

Let me first remind the eleven factors necessary for learning from losses or learning in general:

Humility... the sprint of learning.

Reality...the bedrock of learning.

Responsibility...the first step towards learning.

Improvement...The center of learning.

Hope...The motivation for learning.

Willing to Learn...The way for learning.

Adversity...The motivator to learn.

Problems...The opportunities for learning.

Bad Experiences...The perspective for learning.

Change...The price for learning.

Maturity...The value of learning.

Focusing on these factors is essential since they are part of our lives; therefore, it is important to positively deal with them.

The author concludes the book with some valuable advices about learning:

1) Learning decreases usually with the increasing of winning; therefore, it is required to continue learning in all situations.

2) Learning is possible only when our thinking is changed.

3) Real learning will be known when there is a change in attitude.

4) Continuous success is a result of continuous failures and learning.

I recommend to read this book since it will add lot of benefits and experience to the reader and most important, it will provide effective ways to learn.

See in the next book :)

Episode 38 (Grow and Lead)

Living with John C. Maxwell books is interesting. He adds great values to the reader in addition to lot of experiences through many stories from personal life or history. One of these nice books is (SOMETIMES YOU WIN...SOMETIMES YOU LEARN) where he shares an important concept in life that is learning from losses.

The eleventh and last factor is (Maturity...The value of learning) and this factor is the reward for applying the previous ten factors which we talked about in the previous episodes.

Who is a mature person? the author indicate that maturity is not related with age, instead, a mature person is the one who learns from losses, gains wisdom and has strong and stable emotions and mentality in the face of life's problems.

What is the source of maturity? there are five sources as per the author. They are as follows:

1) Maturity is a result of finding a benefit in a loss.

Learning from losses is great; however, it will not mean a lot if we did not convert losses lesson into a benefit. This will happen when we take what we learnt and apply it to our future actions.

2) Maturity is a result of learning to feed the right feelings.

Taking actions with right feelings will lead to success whereas taking actions with wrong feelings will take to failure.

3) Maturity is a result of learning improving new habits.

One of the authors said: "The only difference between who succeed and failed is their habits differences".

4) Maturity is a result of learning to sacrifice today in order to success tomorrow.

If you want to improve maturity and gain learning value, you need to learn sacrificing somethings today to get more profits tomorrow.

5) Maturity is a result of learning to gain self and other's respect.

The important word here is trust.

Maturity needs efforts and learning from losses will be an important source for gaining this maturity.
