John C. Maxwell wrote many books in leadership field. One of the useful books I read is (THE 21 IRREFUTABLE LAWS OF LEADERSHIP). Whoever reads this book will understand the essential rules and concepts of leadership through the laws mentioned in it.
The second law is called (The law of Influence) and states that the true measure for leadership is influence; not more, not less.
The important points under this law are the following:
- Real leadership cannot be given or delegated. It comes only from influence which cannot be delegated.
- There are many myths common among people related to leadership such as leadership and management is same, All business people are leaders, Knowledgeable people are leaders, Pioneer people are leaders and leadership depends on positions.
- There are several factors that play a role in leader's influence: Personality, Relationship, Knowledge, Intuition, Experience, Previous Success and Capability.
- One of the places that influence of leaders is shown is in charities and volunteering organizations. The real essence of influence is convincing others to participate in these places.
This law is essential to define whether the person is a real leader or not. Also, it is sending a message to all who seek to be leaders to learn and study influence techniques.
