It is proven that leadership has an important impact on almost all aspects of life; therefore, it is necessary to learn this science. (THE 21 IRREFUTABLE LAWS OF LEADERSHIP) book written by John C. Maxwell is a very useful book about leadership. It provides the important concepts about leadership.
The fourth law is called (The law of Navigation) and states that anyone can steer the ship; however, it requires a leader to specify the path.
The important points under this law are the following:
- Jack Welsh says: "The good leader maintains his focus. Controling your direction is better than leaving it to control you". The navigator leaders imagine the whole journey in their minds before they move one step.
- The excellent navigators put in their minds that there are others who depend on them and their abilities to draw a good path for the journey.
- The navigator leaders have several characteristics that will raise the opportunities of success:
1- Depending on previous experience.
2- Studying circumstances before providing any commitments.
3- Listening to others' opinions.
4- Making sure that their results reflect reality and certainty.
- The ability to navigate for others requires from the leader to have a positive attitude.
- The secret of navigation law is good preparation. When you are well prepared, you will provide trust and certainty to people.
I believe that this law distinguishes leaders clearly from others since it is an essential role of leaders.
