If anyone asked me to recommend books about leadership, I would recommend John C. Maxwell books. One of his great books in leadership field is (THE 21 IRREFUTABLE LAWS OF LEADERSHIP) where he explains the importance and characteristics of a leader.
The tenth law is called (The law of Connection) and it states that leaders touch heart before they ask for a hand.
The important points under this law are the following:
- When it comes to working with people, the heart comes before the mind. This is true whether you are communicating in a stadium full of people, leading a team meeting, or even trying to connect with your partner.
- You cannot encourage people to work unless you affect them emotionally.
- Good leaders connect with people all the time either they were connecting with full organization or with one person.
- One of the bases for connection with others is to realize that even in groups you should connect with people as individuals.
- You should know your personality and trust yourself if you want to connect with others.
- Successful leaders who follow the law of connection are always the initiators. They take the first step with others then make efforts to sustain in building relations.
- When a leader really does everything they can to engage with their followers, you can see that in the way the organization operates.
The law of connection is essential for any leader to success and be effective.
