I read many books about leadership. I found (THE 21 IRREFUTABLE LAWS OF LEADERSHIP) book written by John C. Maxwell is very useful and intersting. It is talking about important concepts of leadership. It is a very useful book for leaders and whoever seeks to become a successful leader.
The fifth law is called (The law of Addition) and states that leaders add value through serving others.
The important points under this law are the following:
- The essence of leadership is not about how much a leader is progressing, but how much the leader is helping others to progress and this will only be achieved through serving others and adding values to them.
- Many leaders who won Nobel prize were less concerned about themselves and more concerned with others.
- The best position for the leader is not always the higher position, authority, or control. It is the position where the leader can provide the best service to add the highest value to others.
- Albert Einstein said: "The life that we live to serve others is the only life that we deserve to live".
- Leaders who add value through serving others trust their followers before others trust them and they serve others before others serve them.
- Successful and effective leaders listen, learn then lead.
- A big part of good leadership is about not having any unresolved disagreements in relationships with others.
This law is against many people's thoughts about leadership. It corrects the mindset of real leaders who should serve others and add value to them.
