Welcome to this episode about (THE 17 INDISPUTABLE LAWS OF TEAMWORK) book written by John C. Maxwell. Teamwork is essential for any organization to succeed and achieve objectives.
This book will provide a lot of useful and necessary concepts for teams to be effective and leaders to care about while leading teams.
In this episode, I will talk about the fifth law which is (The law of the Chain) and states that the strength of the team is impacted by its weakest link. The important points under this law are the following:
- A person who is a weak link on your team may be able to become a star on another team. You should give that person a chance to find his level elsewhere.
- Team members who cannot do their part, slow down the team. They have a negative impact on your leadership.
- If you have strong people on your team, they will always know who is not performing up to everyone else's level.
- Carrying someone else's burden alongside your own reduces your performance. Do it for a long time and the whole team will suffer.
- If other people make decisions instead of you because you are unwilling or unable to make them, your leadership is compromised, and you will not serve the team well.
- Weak team members always take up more team time than stronger team members. One reason is that the most qualified people have to offer their time to compensate for those who do not carry their share of the burden.
- Weak links are less aware of their weaknesses and shortcomings than stronger members. They also spend more time guarding their territories, protecting their positions, and holding on to what they have.
