Leadership is so important that developed countries and successful organizations will provide special care for it. (THE 21 IRREFAUTABLE LAWS OF LEADERSHIP) book written by John C. Maxwell is very useful for those who want to know what leadership is and what their main roles and rules are.
The twentieth one and the last law of this book is called (The Law of Legacy) and it states that A leader’s lasting value is measured by succession.
The important points under this law are the following:
- If you wish to leave an impact as a leader on a future generation, you must be very careful and concerned about your legacy.
- Most people simply live their life as it is, they do not direct it. People have to be proactive about how they live their lives.
- If you want to create a legacy, you have to live it first. You should become what you would like to see in others.
- Leaders often direct their efforts to organization, buildings, or other inanimate objects. But only people stay after we are gone, and everything else will go.
- The best leaders lead today and they think of tomorrow by making sure they invest in the leaders who will carry on their legacy.
Applying all laws together might be challenging in the beginning; however, the first step is to know them then apply gradually. As we reach to the end of this book, I recommend all to read this book as it will add great value to whoever reads it.
