Welcome to this episode where we talk about (THE LEADERSHIP HANBOOK) book written by John C. Maxwell. The book provides important lessons for leaders to be successful and effective.
The twenty third lesson is (Those who start the journey with you rarely finish it with you). The important points under this lesson are the following:
- Just because you like people doesn't mean you need to have them on your team.
- Any time you ignore reality for the sake of a relationship, you'll run into problems.
- Just because people were good for the team at the beginning of the journey doesn't mean they'll always be able to go through the whole journey.
- If you keep and reward uncommitted or unproductive people, your team will eventually consist of uncommitted and unproductive individuals.
- If a leader keeps losing their best people, there's usually a problem with the leader.
- You can't effectively lead people who would rather not be on your team.
- The more you develop yourself as a leader and invest in people, the more people you can choose from.
- If you're still on the journey with some of the people who started with you, celebrate and reward them, and continue to enjoy the journey.
- When everyone on the team thinks that certain members are holding the team back, it reduces the organization's momentum, damages team chemistry, and undermines your leadership credibility.
